Holiday Happenings at MSY

Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Before things get too crazy, I’m here to let you know about a couple of temporary schedule changes and a few upcoming events at Main Street Yoga.

Since Christmas Day and New Year’s Day fall on Saturdays this year, Bhakti Flow & Yin will be offered on Friday, December 24th, at 9 am (no classes on Christmas Day) and on Saturday, January 1st, at 10 am (an extra hour of sleep for those of you who actually stay awake until midnight to ring in the new year).

On January 2nd, I’m offering a special intention-setting workshop for the new year. Although I’m not a huge fan of new year’s “resolutions,” I do like to begin my year with intention and direction. The “Set Your Vision” workshop will begin with a “Wheel of Life” assessment, then we’ll meditate on and set intentions for our whole selves: body, mind and spirit. While this isn’t a yoga class, we may use some simple yoga poses to help direct our intentions. This workshop is available in person and live online. A workbook will be provided to you, but feel free to bring a journal and any other tools you might find useful (beads, crystals, essential oils, sacred objects, etc.).

If part of your vision for 2022 includes diving deeper into your yoga practice, or learning to teach yoga to others, you won’t want to miss the Yoga Teacher Training Q&A session on January 9th at 2:30. This is a unique opportunity clarify your goals, ask questions, and learn about the process of yoga teacher training from me and my YTT graduates.

Main Street Yoga is a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School. While graduates of Main Street Yoga's yoga teacher training program are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as a Registered Yoga Teacher at the 200-hour level, yoga teacher training is not exclusive to people who want to become certified yoga teachers. Yoga teacher training is a transformational experience for anyone who wants to learn more about the mental, emotional, physical, and technical aspects of the eight limbs of yoga. I hope you'll join us!

If you’re new to yoga or you’ve been away for a while, or if you’d like to deepen your understanding of the practice but aren’t quite ready for yoga teacher training, I hope you’ll join me for my “Yoga Foundations Series” that begins on January 9th at 4 pm. This workshop-style series is an exploration of yoga from the ground up! While the main focus of this series will be asana (the poses), we will also touch on meditation, pranayama (breathing techniques), and yoga philosophy. Students at any level of fitness are welcome.

The fee for the series is $96, which covers 8 live 90-minute sessions (a total of 12 hours of instruction) as well as all supplementary material, including handouts and videos. While the greatest benefit will be gained by attending in person (as I will offer student-specific adjustments and modifications), I’m also making online attendance available.

Before I go, I want to let you know what I’ve been working on. Some of you are familiar with my group health coaching program called “Body Wisdom.” This past year, after completing 600-hours of training in Ayurveda, yoga’s sister science, I committed to growing and refining Body Wisdom into something bigger and better. The first step I took was to give Body Wisdom its own website, separate from Main Street Yoga. It’s still in its infancy, but I’d be very grateful if you’d visit the website, have a look around, grab some free resources, and sign up for my newsletter. I’d love to get your feedback on it as well.

Thanks so much for your attention and for your continued support of Main Street Yoga. Merry Christmas, and all the best to you in the new year!!

With love,

Angela
